Even if your aquarium water looks crystal clear, however by stirring up the substrate with a slight hand movement, you’ll be shocked at how much detritus there is. Whenever fish are being fed, food particles tend to submerge to the tank bottom which leads to decay and the food that is eaten will eventually be released back into the water as fish excretion waste, adding to the accumulated detritus. Regular water changes are therefore the cornerstone of a healthy aquarium.

• It is always recommended to conduct a weekly water change. When performing partial water change, do not change more than 40% of the aquarium tank water (10- 25 % is recommended)
• Remember to use Ocean Free New Water Guard conditioner to treat the tap-water when performing partial water change. Dose the required amount of water conditioner into the aquarium tank water first before topping it up with the tap water. For small aquarium, you may want to treat the tap-water with water conditioner in a pail of water before topping it up into your aquarium tank.
• When washing or changing your biological media, DO NOT wash or change all your filter media at the same time. Instead, wash or change only a quarter of it each time and repeat this during your subsequent water changes. DO NOT wash your biological media with tap-water and ALWAYS use your aquarium tank water so as to retain the biological balance.
• Rinse or replace your mechanical media (such as sponge or wool) on a weekly basis to prevent it from clogging due to the fish bio wastes in your filter compartment.
• DO NOT use any kind of detergent to clean your aquarium.
