The Reptile Pro Solar 2.0 is a generic light that provides superior color rendering index （CRI）, stimulating the full UV spectrum of natural sunlight but with a lower UVB radiation. This bulb is suitable for all amphibians, reptiles and plants will also flourish under this light. Through UVA radiation, Reptile Pro Solar 2.0 stimulates plant growth, reproductive behavior and appetite. UVA light also enables reptiles to detect movements and identify other reptiles of their species. Fluorescent bulbs tend to lose their brightness and UV radiation approximately within a year (12 months) and it is recommended to replace the light bulb before it burns out completely. The Reptile Pro Rain-forest 5.0 is recommended for all tropical and sub-tropical reptiles. It provides a mild to high UVB output, much alike to that of dim environments such as rain forests and other tropical locations. Living in these habitats, reptiles receive less UV radiation because of the high humidity and changes in weather which prevents direct sunlight from reaching their basking sites. Vitamin D3 is vital to calcium metabolism. When reptiles do not get enough calcium, they tend to develop Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD). Metabolic Bone Disease is a disorder related to the weakening of the skeletal structure.

As some reptiles do not absorb Vitamin D3 from food, they will require ultraviolet light exposure to manufacture Vitamin D3.
