OF® 3DM Pro-Filter Medium Octa-Black Samurai L & XL is a high-performance mineral-based filter medium built with a durable macro-porous composition. The improved surface area of 2980 m²/L, combined with up to 99% usable coverage space, provides an ideal environment for rapid and stable bacterial attachment. Its natural black coloration helps reduce light exposure, allowing beneficial bacteria to remain protected and active. The upgraded porous structure breaks down ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate more efficiently, giving clearer water and a more stable nitrogen cycle even under heavier bio-load. - Faster & Denser Bacteria Growth.
The improved material composition offers up to 99% coverage space, giving beneficial bacteria more usable surfaces to anchor and grow. This allows colonies to establish themselves more quickly and maintain a denser, more stable presence across the media over time. - Larger Effective Surface Area.
Tested with BET surface area analysis, the media now provides 2980 m²/L of active surface area, outperforming typical ceramic rings and offering higher filtration power in all tank sizes. - pH Neutral.
The improved formula remains fully inert and does not alter pH, KH, or GH, making it suitable for soft-water, hard-water, brackish and marine setups. - Longer Water Contact Time.
Refined internal pathways increase water retention time within the media, allowing deeper biological processing and more complete waste breakdown. - Stronger, Cleaner & Longer-Lasting.
