Feeding your fishes regularly is important to provide the fish with essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Poor nutrition may lead to loss of colour, illness, and even death. On the other hand, overfeeding your fish can be bad for the fish too, thus it is important to identify the ideal feeding amount – learn more about overfeeding.
To identify the feeding amount, you can start by feeding your fishes with small amount per time till they stop feeding. Remember the amount, and feed them at most twice a day with that amount which they can consume within 5 minutes. It is best to remove any leftover/uneaten food immediately to prevent fouling the water.
It is import to keep the fish food in a cool dry area to maintain the quality of the food. If you are keeping predatory fishes, avoid feeding live fishes to reduce the chances of diseases transmission. Instead, an ideal alternative would be to feed them with commercial frozen food.
