LIGHT TUBES AND LIGHT SETS
Sufficient lighting is another important area that contributes to a successful Aquarium set up. Lighting is generally meant to mimic the day length of a tropical region and it also encourage plant growth in the aquarium tanks.
Fluorescent (PL, T8 and T5)
Fluorescent tube lightings are commonly used in aquariums. The differences between T8 and T5 tubes are:
- T5 tube are slimmer in size, it emit much brighter and intense light.
- T5 tube consumes more energy but produces more heat.
- T8 tube is more economical and it also produces less heat.

Color tubes are widely used in aquarium tanks too such as actinic blue lighting for marine aquariums to simulate night light and also to provide the necessary requirement for the corals, while pink tube are used to enhance the visual effect of red pigmentation of fishes such as Goldfish and Parrot fish.
LEDs

The long lasting working life of LED have proven to be more economy than fluorescent tubes even though LED bulbs can’t be replace as compare to fluorescent tubes.
