RevoReef Refractometer® provides accurate salinity readings for Marine and Brackish Aquariums. It is equipped with Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATS) system.
Step 1. Open the Daylight Diffuser Cover, and use the dropper to drip 2-3 drops of RODI water on the Prism.
Step 2. Close the Daylight Diffuser Cover so that the water spreads evenly across the entire surface of the Prism without air bubbles or dry spots (see illustration 1.2). Wait for approximately 30 seconds to allow the sample to adjust to the same temperature as the prism before going to Step #3.
Step 3. Close the Daylight Diffuser Cover and hold daylight plate in the direction of a light source to check reading. You will see a circular field with graduations down the center (see illustration 1.3); you can adjust the focus by turning the eyepiece clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Step 1. Using the Dropper, place a few drops of the water sample to be tested onto the Prism.
Step 2. Close the Daylight Diffuser Cover and hold daylight plate in the direction of a light source to check reading. Take the reading of the salinity at the ‘refracted line’ on the graduated scale.
